BURNS AND SUNBURNS
Very painful, the burn is a lesion of the skin or mucous membranes caused by their exposure to intense heat(flames, boiling liquids, electric plate, excessive friction ...), to chemical agents (hydrochloric acid, caustic soda), to electricity or ionizing radiation (radiotherapy).
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BURNS
- The burns 1st degree , superficial, are manifested by redness , a pain and edema . The sunburn is a burn of this type.
- The burns 2nd degree , deeper, result in the appearance of very painful blisters on a red edematous area. The alteration of the cutaneous barrier (pierced blisters) promotes superinfection;
- The burns 3rd degree , or charring, very deep (muscles, tendons, bones can be achieved see). They are very serious, especially among the elderly.
WHAT TO DO FOR BURNS?
First reflex in case of burn, pass the part of the body burned under running cold water for at least 7 minutes to avoid the propagation and the depth of the burn. If the burn is severe (extensive, deep, affected by a baby / toddler or face in particular), seek immediate medical attention.
NATURAL CARE TO CALM BURNS
The first essential oil to turn to in the event of a burn will be that of Lavender , essential oil for its exceptional pain and healing properties . Apply a few drops of pure lavender essential oil on the burn.
To promote the healing of the burn , regularly apply Calendula Oil , anti-inflammatory powerful, it reduces edema and congestion after a burn while promoting the regeneration of the skin . In case of sunburn, apply St John's wort , soothing and very soothing, on the skin (do not expose yourself to the sun for 6 hours after application).
